I have serious beef with FIAT because of the 500L. I was super excited to see the 500 come to America, since we need small cars more than anything right now. The 500 has great styling and it will at least make MINI stop sitting on their asses.
I was expecting the 500L to be a stretched out 500, keeping with the trend of trying to market truly small cars to the US. I was dead wrong. I saw a 500L on the highway the other day, and it just happened to be driving next to a Honda CR-V. They are the same exact size. The FIAT might even be a bit bigger. I won't get started on the bloated styling, but it looks like crap too. Why would you do this FIAT? I have a sneaking suspicion that the 500 was just a shiny object to divert our attention while FIAT sent another mini-SUV/crossover/whatever to the already glutted market.
So thanks FIAT. Thanks for another CR-V. We really needed one.

UGH. Sorry for the typo guys... 3rd line from the bottom of the 2nd paragraph should start with "Why would you do this FIAT?"

Under the time published and view count there should be an edit button. Sometimes Kinja gets confused an decides to remove important features so it may not be there.

Exact same size?! You;re out of your mind.
Even if it was a FIRST gen CR-V...
95-01 CR-V: 178" long, 70" wide, height varies from 66-70" depending on 4WD, 2WD, etc.
Current CR-V: 178.3" long, 71.6" wide, 66" tall. Weight for a 2WD base LX one is 3,300 pounds.
500L: 163" long, 70" wide, 65" tall, weighs just shy of 3,000 pounds.

There is no time limit for an article. Only replies have a time limit, 15 minutes I believe.

The FIAT is half a meter shorter, but about as high and wide as the CRV. It's supposed to be a family-version of the 500, so it had to be bigger. I'm not sure if it's a good idea. but they've done it. I think it looks kind of cool though, stands out in an otherwise grey street.

Thanks! They move the buttons every 2 weeks so it's hard to keep up.

Seen them in person and they're smaller than the CR-V.
